The SUN has learnt that CRTV journalist and experienced sports commentator, Fon Echekiye has been summoned to appear before judicial military officers at the Secretariat of State for Defense (SED) at the National Gendarmerie Head Quarter in the nation capital on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
The summon comes barely some few hours after Cameroon’s International Lawyer of high repute, Barrister Akere Muna appeared before gendarme officers last March 24. There was drama in the air at the National Gendarmerie as Barrister Akere Muna who had turned down the summon date of March 22 because he was traveling to South Africa showed up last Friday accompanied by Bar Council President, Batonnier Jackson Ngnie Kamga and over 70 lawyers.
The SUN gathered that Akere Muna was interrogated for 5 hours on the two articles he published in French daily newspaper, Le Jour in December 2016 and in January 2017 on the Anglophone problem in which he was trying to tell Cameroonian authorities that the Anglophone problem is real and that nobody can be deceived. In the two letters, Barrister Akere Muna frowned at government’s crackdown on those who are trying to articulate the Anglophone problem.
According to information gotten by The SUN, the interrogation considered that Barrister Akere Muna was inciting terrorism, rebellion and secession against the state.
Before returning home, Barrister Akere Muna was informed that preliminary investigation has been opened against him indicating that he has a file to answer at the Military Tribunal.
Former Bar Council President, Akere Muna’s summon to appear before the Judicial Research Central Service located at the National Gendarmerie last March 22 was served through the current Bar Council President, Batonnier Ngnie Kamga Jackson.
