Cameroonians in the diaspora have been warned against protesting in Switzerland on Saturday, June 29 2019, following President Paul Biya’s short stay in the country.
In a communiqué made public on Monday June 24, the ambassador, His Excellency Leonard Henri Bindzi warns the organizers as well as their followers to desist from engaging in the action which he termed a “barbaric project”. Ambassador Henri Bindzi says personal consequences await all those who will try to make real the protest plan.
The state man implores all Cameroonians living in and around Switzerland to give deaf ears to calls for the said protests, which he maintains symbolize hate, tribalism and violence, contrary to the patriotism and love for Cameroon. Ambassador Henri Bindzi rather invites all Cameroonians to work for peace and living together, core values currently being preached in Cameroon.
It should be recalled that President Biya left Cameroon on Sunday alongside the first lady Chantal Biya for a private visit to Switzerland.
Point to note is the fact that while the anti-Biya protest is said to be staged by the ‘Brigade Anti Sardinard’ group made up of Cameroonians across Europe, militants of Cameroon’s ruling party, the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement of President Paul Biya, have equally declared their vehemence in counteracting any manifestation of public disrespect and hate on their champion, Biya.
They have resolved to also stage a protest to meet face to face with the ‘Brigade Anti Sardinard’ group on Saturday, June 29 2019. In a communiqué signed by the CPDM Switzerland section President, Benjamin Sakem and Secretary General Angeline Henzen, the CPDM denounce the planned anti-Biya protest, stating it is only meant to disturb the peace and quiet of Biya’s short visit to Switzerland.
