The wife of Mr. Peter Nkendem, Mama Atemnkeng Monica died on February 1 in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The Anglophone crisis has taken so many innocent lives and caused pain to families. A case in point is that of Mama Atemnkeng Monica whose daughter, Stella Nkendem fled the country due to persecution. About two years ago, Mama Atemnkeng Monica was brutally tortured and left helpless in her native village Mbindia, Lebang South-West region, Cameroon. Since this torture incident, Mama Atemnkeng Monica sustained severe injuries and became critically ill. She finally died on February 1st, 2024.
During her funeral in Mbindia on March 13, military officers stormed the ceremonial ground looking for her daughter Stella Nkendem and creating a stampede. No one knows when this crisis will end, and peace will return to the Southern Cameroons.
