The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has rejoiced over the successful securing of polling stations nationwide by administrative authorities as instructed by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya. He made the declaration last March 25, 2018 immediately after receiving security reports from administrative authorities in the ten regions at the close of the senatorial polls in Cameroon.
Speaking at a press briefing, Minister Atanga Nji Paul declared that “Voting effectively took place in all the 58 divisional headquarters of the country in an atmosphere of order, calm and serenity with no major incident recorded that can impede on the transparency and sincerity of the election.”
He added that municipal councils turned out massively and voting peacefully for the 9 political parties which presented candidates at the Senate election in Cameroon.
After disclosing that the Ministry of Territorial Administration granted accreditations to some 3309 national observers and 414 international observers, he said their different reports on the conduct of the senate election of 25 March 2018 is highly awaited.
The Minat Boss reassured that administrative authorities will continue to secure the general vote counting process first at divisional and later on at regional levels before the Constitutional Council will proclaim the official results within 15 days as stipulated by the Electoral Code.
