Back-to-School Outreach Program: Clean Environment for Sustainable Education & Bringing Hearts Together Offer Support to Over 100 Needy IDP Children in Buea

Over 100 internally displaced children in Buea have been made to smile following donation of didactic materials to them as they prepare to commence the 2024/2025 academic year.

The donation exercise which was spearheaded by Clean Environment for Sustainable Education (CEFSE) in partnership with Bringing Hearts Together (BHeT) took place in Buea this Wednesday August 28, 2024 and saw the children receive school bags, books, pencils, sanitary pads etc.

According to the CEO of CEFSE, Eric Ambi Amboh, this back-to-school outreach program was planned for over a year now and he expressed satisfaction for a successful completion of the project. “The vision of creating CEFSE was a God-given one. It was driven by the passion that I have to help those in need in the society especially the less privileged, the needy persons, families and those of school-going ages. In the future we intend to do more in other domains such as awarding scholarships, providing trash cans to schools, carrying out environmental workshops and provision of computers to schools”. etc

The CEO who is an expert in waste management presented a talk on proper plastic waste management and recycling where he stated that plastics disposed take 500 plus years to decompose. “It is a good practice to recycling of the plastic bottles we use. Disposing plastic bottles is harmful to our environment. We have to learn to be disciplined”.

To the children he said “As you go back to school make sure you keep your environment clean as it is not good to study in a dirty environment”. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the didactic materials given to them and make sure they study well.

In her remark, the Chief Executive Officer of Bringing Hearts Together (BHeT), Regina Liengu Etaka Esong revealed that her organization in partnership with CEFSE is ensuring that the needy internally displaced children go back to school. “With the outbreak of the Anglophone crisis, we have a huge number of IDPs in our communities and some of them have not been to school for years now. As a result of the crisis, most of their parents are unable to do their lucrative activities that they use to do to send their children to school so we came in to assist the children go back to school by providing them with these didactics” she noted.

The BHeT CEO also gave a talk on menstrual hygiene wherein she educated the young girls on how to ensure a proper menstrual hygiene during their menstrual period. “Cleanliness is next to godliness so we want our young girls to ensure good menstrual hygiene so that they can also be able to study well. It is part of the package to see that these children are comfortable and feel good.

Clean Environment for Sustainable Education (CEFSE) is an NGO which has as objective to educate communities on plastic waste management, provide advanced methods of collecting and recycling of plastic bottles, promotion of adolescent menstrual hygiene, promote gender equality in education, donate scholarships/didactics to school children and assist needy families with basic necessities.

Bringing Hearts Together is a non-governmental organization which is aimed at promoting the knowledge, skills and rights of vulnerable people, promoting peace within communities, supporting sustainable development in the community and working towards the elimination of gender based violence in the society.
