Thanks to a global envelope of FCFA 30 billion since 2015, the French Debt Relief and Development Contract, C2D programmes are transforming the city of Garoua. The Regional Capital programme has already realized 20km of urban roads in pavels or roller compacted concrete in the city of the North region, planted trees on a land surface of 139256m2, rehabilitating the City Park Boise to be received ending December 2022 or early January 2023, Garden of the year 2000 (constructed), installed 101 solar street lights in quarters to fight aginst insecurity, constructed 6 public toilets and 20 lantrines in schools.
Trading areas such as the cattle and fish market beside the River Benoue and stores in Yelwa quarter are under con-struction at FCFA 2, 908 172 866.
In the educational domain, the North region received FCFA 4 billion within the framework of C2D Education. Be-noue, Mayo Louti, Mayo Rey and Faro Divisions have benefited from contractualization of part time teachers, school buildings including classrooms were erected.
Speaking last December 5, 2022 in Garoua, the North Regional Coordinator of C2D programmes, Ismaila Moha-manDarihou said “C2D programmes have given Garoua a facelift to the joy of the local population. C2D pro-grammes are one of the most important programmes executed in the past years.” He placed the whole C2D works in the region at a realization rate of 85% and disclosed that lantrines, public toilets and the potable water kioks and tanks are under exploitation for the past three or four years now to the total satisfaction of the population.
FCFA 1,289 202, 270 frs were used to construct 20 portable water kioks, constructed 60 potable water tanks etc.
The cattle and fish market under construction beside the Benoue River has been built to ease the relaxation attitude of the population.
