Cameroonian cultural artist, Mukete James Nanje, popularly known as ‘Betondi James’, on Monday, December 9, 2024 released another track titled EYASU on social media platforms.
After his thrilling single “Ngobi” in 2022, here comes another piece titled EYASU. A folklore song from the Oroko land, describing the new fabric of the people of South West Region of Cameroon.
Due to his proficiency in singing and promoting the Oroko culture through music, Betondi James was awarded a certificate of excellence by the DREAM MEDIA GROUP, a communication household name in the South West Region. He has also received an award from the Oroko Cultural Organisation, USA, for promoting Oroko culture through music at home and abroad.
The artist travelled to Dubai and South Africa in 2022 to entertain the Oroko people there. His scintillating dancing styles and coordinated footsteps leave his audience spellbound with surplus entertainment and nostalgia.
Betondi James has 4 albums and 3 singles in the musical industry. He sings in the Oroko dialect, on themes like jealousy, hatred, community development, filial love, culture identity among others.
He has taken part in several national events on culture and music organised by the Regional Delegate of Culture of the South West Region and the Ministry of Culture.
He will prominently represent the Ndian people on music and entertainment in the maiden South West Cultural event, organised by South West Chiefs Conference, SWECC, on December 13-14, 2024.
Mukete James hails from Betenge Balue in Ndian Division of the South West Region of Cameroon. He is married and a father of two children and started his music career in 2011. Mukete sings Amekoko, Dior and Malleh and other traditional songs from Orokoland which he sings in Oroko dialect.
He has gained popularity with his music which reminds its listeners of their roots in Orokoland. “Ngobi” (Lineage) is his most recent song which has caught the hearts of many.
