The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM Party has celebrated its 33rd anniversary in the Mezam division, North West Region under the banner 33 years of peace, progress and unity.
The ceremony that took place at the conference hall of the Bamenda 1 council brought together the party’s officials alongside other administrative authorities to celebrate the party’s existence. Chairing the event was the divisional coordinator for the party, Minister Atanga Nji Paul.
In his address to militants, Minister Atanga said they should continue to show their unfailing support to the head of state. According to him, the Head of State who doubles as the president of the CPDM is the people’s choice and should be maintained as their number one candidate in subsequent elections.
He added that the best way to show their support to the Head of State and other state institutions is to start by winning more seats in the senatorial election.
The CPDM anniversary, judged by some as quite timely, held on the eve of the senatorial elections giving room for last minute campaign on behalf of the aspiring senators led by Mme Regina Mundi as list head for the North West constituency.
Characterizing the celebration was the symbolic peace plant that militants could be seen swinging from left to right as an indication of 33 years peace since the party was born in 1985.
The section president for Mezam 1C, Ngante Martin told the press that they are celebrating a minister, an industrial zone and a referral hospital all in Mezam 1C. “We are celebrating the fact that the first vice president came from Nkwen, the late John Ngu Foncha. We are celebrating a year of peace and democracy” he added. While celebrating, militants unanimously declared President Paul Biya as their candidate while councilors pledged their support to the party in the senatorial election.
The celebration was done under the auspices of the Governor of the North West Region Adolf Lele L’Afrique, the Government delegates to the Bamenda city council, amongst other administrative officials.
