Alleged separatist ‘Commander’ arrested in Kumba
An alleged separatist commander has been arrested in Kumba, Chief Town of Meme Division of the South West Region. ‘Commander Old Soldier” as he is known was apprehended by elements of the Kumba National Gendarmerie. Reports hold that the former who since the start of the armed conflict was the leader of the ‘amba boys’ in Kake II village whose jurisdiction extended to part of Kumba, was arrested while in a drinking spot around Mile I park Mbonge Road Kumba. ‘Old Soldier’ The SUN gathered came to Kumba to make plans ahead of a football encounter he had organised in Kake II village. Unfortunately for him, he saw himself in the dragnet of security operatives. Reports from Kake indicate that the news of his arrest was received with mixed feelings. It should be recalled that the atrocities of separatist fighters in the area have caused untold sufferings and hardships to the population, including frequent kidnappings with the demand for ransom.
Family exchanges blows over corpse
It was with shock and consternation that mourners and sympathisers had to gather courage to separate the serious exchange of blows at the funeral of Lum Joyce, a Senior College Teacher in Kumba. Late Lum Joyce reports say drowned and gave up the ghost in a river while returning from a business trip in Nigeria two weeks ago. The family of Late Lum Joyce didn’t take it lightly and immediately pointed accusing fingers at her husband, a popular cable line distributor in Kumba, for haven allegedly taken the life of his wife mysteriously. At the Kumba Mortuary to the burial ground at their wilderness residence in Kosala III, mourners kept on separating the fracas. The corpse was confiscated and the husband refused access to view the corpse. The drama was plenty. The husband had dug a grave at his residence, both families were eyeing at each other with suspicion and confusion was the order of the day. It was thanks to the intervention of alleged ‘amba boys’ in the area who fired gun shots in the air that the corpse was finally handed to the husband.
