Members of the Electoral Board have deliberated and approved Elections Cameroon’s Strategic Plan for the period 2024/2025. They also examined and agreed on the terms of reference for their next field trip to supervise the launching of the 2024 annual revision of the electoral registers due to resume on January 1st as prescribed under Section 74 Sub 2 of the Electoral Code.
This was last December 21, 2023 at the Head Office of ELECAM in Yaounde as they met for their 4th ordinary session of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon, ELECAM chaired by the President of the Electoral Board of ELECAM, Dr Enow Abrams Egbe.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Board explained that “in fact, considering the numerous upcoming electoral challenges, the enthusiasm of political parties this last moment, adding to the general mobilization of the civil society organizations, the adoption of a Strategic Plan for Elections Cameroon is very timely to restructure our roadmap, reorientate our strategic and operational objectives and suggest what we should do to mobilise the means nationally and internationally for its optical and efficient implimentation of activities of the Electoral Board, Support Structures, the Direction General of Elections and Regional Branches of ELECAM.”
He hoped that this strategic steering and evaluation document will reinforce and consolidate political and democratic achievments so as remain at the height of real aspiration of stakesholders of the electoral process.
The Strategic Plan of Elections Cameroon was elaborated and submitted to ameliorate internal policies and the means of operational actions to increase the credibility of Cameroon elections management body to the process of national construction of democracy.
He started by congratulating on behalf of the Electoral Board, the Director General of Elections at ELECAM, Dr Erik Essousse and the Deputy Director General of Elections of ELECAM, Abdoulkarimou for the renewal of their appointment by the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya.
Dr Enow Abrams Egbe said “Mr Director General, this renewed confidence is a testament of your esteemed managerial skills, experience and patriotic dedication in addressing the major challenges inherent to the electoral process.”
The Chairperson of the Electoral Board explained that “our deliberations shall focus on the review and approval of the repartition of ELECAM’s budget and the special appropriation of the Electoral Board, with regards to our roadmap for the 2024 Financial Year.”
