The association of Fako elements based in the United States (Fako America Association) has celebrated its silver jubilee, as it looks back at what has been achieved so far.
According to the president of Fako America Association Dr Billy Esele, it has been a great honour to serve as the President of this prestigious organization for the past two years. He made the remark during a special chat with The SUN Newspaper on Friday, June 21, 2019.
He explains that “Although not a perfect organization, we are striving to achieve perfection with the help of all our delegates and well-wishers”.
He added that he is so grateful for the founders of this organization who saw a need to bring the Fako people together and make impact in the Fako people in Cameroon.
“In the past two years we have accomplished a lot, although we still have much to do in the process of aiding our ourselves and our fellow brothers and sisters back home in Fako land”, Dr Billy Esele said.
While reviewing the great impact that they have made in the organization for the past two years, the president noted the process of registering the organization as an official legal recognized entity in the State of Maryland. “During this process, the team acquired a post office box for the organization”, he said.
“One area that I believe we really made a huge impact is in our humanitarian efforts. In February 2018, we organized a drive that supported our sister who was severely mutilated in Cameroon, to cover her medical bills and upkeep”.
He added that, two other humanitarian projects that they engaged in these past two years include, Fako America Health Care Project (FAHCP) and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Project. The first phase, which was accomplished in May 2019, included the disbursement of medical supplies to several health centers around the Fako land.
“The call for unity among the Fako people has been the core of this administration”, the President stated.
