The Fobellah Nkeng Foundation, FobNFund, has offered to some 30 students, pupils, and Internal Displaced Persons IDPs, nationwide scholarship worth hundreds of thousands francs. Apart from the scholarships the Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary School, Kumba equally received didactic materials, including books, pencils ,pens cartons of chalk and two mattresses from FobNFund.
The vibrant ceremony took place at the main hall of the Cathedral of the Kumba Diocese in Fiango, Kumba II Subdivision in Meme Division, South-West region of Cameroon over the weekend under the watchful eyes of the Divisional officer for Kumba II Subdivision, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana.
Addressing the beneficiaries the National President of FobNFund, Barrister Beze Bejeje Nkem, went down memory lane to elucidate that the Foundation was the brain child of Late HRH Fobellah Nkeng of the Lebialem Fondom, who had a humble beginning and worked single handedly for his children and those of the Fondom to gain better education for according to him education is the key to success. The National President of FobNFund hinted that Late HRH Fobellah Nkeng believed in impacting lives of So many, irrespective of tribe, race and sex, reason why he hated discrimination. In order for the Foundation to grow and remain sustainable, the National President of FobNFund, Barrister Beze Bejeje disclosed that a board of Trustees was created including Dr. Fobellah, Dr Atabong Timothy, Richard Fobellah and Rose Fobellah amongst others to run the foundation. He used the occasion to thank all the Trustee members for making it possible for the scholarship to come at the right time. He went further to disclose that amongst the 30 beneficiary selected nationwide are 3 IDPs who are unable to pay their fees in primary school. He narrated that the gesture from the Foundation (which will continue), should be put into profitable use.
The Divisional officer, DO for Kumba II Subdivision, Edwin Nkenya Ngwana used the opportunity to congratulate the foundation. He explained that education is the prime of every society, and that, others groupings should emulate FobNFund’s example, especially at a time when it is not easy for parents to send their children to school at this trying moment in the country. He equally urged the beneficiaries to count themselves lucky for having been chosen by FobNFund.
The Associate Parish Priest of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish in Kumba, Rev Marcel Ekang who presided over the ceremony through his great homily, thanked God for FobNFund. He called on God to continue to bless FobNFund so that the scholarship package should be increase for many more students, pupils and IDP’s benefit.
Reacting to the gesture, the Head teacher of Sacred Heart Nursery and Primary School Fiango, Okolie Justine who received didactic materials on behalf of the school, remained happy and promised to put the materials into use for the benefit of the pupils. Tendonmouh Kenu Jessica Williams of Institute Siantou Yaoundé who received financial package as scholarship, express gratitude to the FobNFund, and promised to multiply her efforts so that next year her name should still future in the FobNFund scholarship scheme.
Mbafac Charmant a level 300 student of the Higher Teachers Technical Training College, HTTTC, Kumba just like Besog Rollings and Ndi Bridget all IDP’s were short of words. In tears of joy they prayed for God to give FobNFund His Grace and Wisdom and for the foundation to continue their gesture. The scholarship beneficiaries concluded that, it has reawakened their spirit and that they will certainly break mountains academically.
