The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey last May 5, 2023 granted an audience to a delegation of the French Development Agency, AFD in his cabinet in Yaounde.
It was disclosed during the audience that the French Development Agency has validated the sum of FCFA 26,6 billion for budgetary support in 2023.
At the end of the talk, the chief of this mission, Michel Drobniak, who doubles as regional economic chief of service at the French Embassy in Cameroon, explained that the mission was realized by the French Treasury, notably the Ministry of Finance in AFD. He said France accompanies Cameroon in implementing the economic and financial programme with the International Monetary Fund, IMF signed last 2021. The IMF pledged to support the programme with the sum of FCFA 100 billion from 2022-2024 periods as a budgetary support. He explained that the first installment of FCFA 46,6 billion was disbursed in 2022. They therefore instructed that FCFA 26,6 be disbursed as second installment for 2023. The third and last installment in 2024 will also be FCFA 26,6 billion.
The mission is currently ongoing so the official said he will not like to go into the details of the programme.
