Gendarme Officer stabbed to dead in a fresh attack in Kumba

A Gendarme Officer has been reported dead and a Police Officer wounded by unknown assailants in Kumba.
Joel Mengue Olinga was stabbed to dead and Elounu Ebunde, inspector of police was wounded on the night breaking Friday, February 16 at the Police-Gendarmerie joint checkpoint in Mile I, Kumba.
According to our sources, Mengue Olinga was at the Police-Gendarmerie checkpoint in Mile I with other officers. He then retired to charge his phone near the checkpoint.
The assailants took the opportunity to stab him; Mengue cried for help and tried to fight back. His cries were heard by the other officers who rushed to the scene and only met Mengue in a pool of his own blood. The attackers had escaped.
Meanwhile, reports equally hold that Elounou Ebunde was also seriously wounded as he rushed to rescue his colleague.
It is alleged that the assailants who attacked Mengue Olinga tried to sieze his gun but the brave soldier fought hard to protect his gun which he died with.
Joel Mengue Olinga, was a young officer in his early 20s who was due to graduate in the months ahead.
