Gov’t reassures readiness to host Conference of the International Council of Archives

Cameroonian authorities have reassured a visiting delegation of the International Council of Archives (IAC) made up of its Secretary General, David Leitch and its Programme Officer, Jessica Squires of government’s preparedness to play host to the Annual Conference of the International Council of Archives slated for November 2018 at the Yaounde Conference Centre.

After visiting the host site of their annual conference as well as the Archives Department and National Museum of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, the two-man delegation was received in audience last February 7, 2018 by Arts and Culture Minister, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi who promised to do his best to ensure a smooth organization of the upcoming conference.
Prof Mouelle Kombi attributed Cameroon’s award of the organization ticket to the diplomatic victory of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
The Secretary General of the International Council of Archives, David Leitch told the Minister of Arts and Culture that they have noticed with satisfaction that all factors are favourable for the holding of this international event in Cameroon. He explained that their council wants to encourage the importance of developing archives in Africa as a means of promoting transparency in the administration.
During their stay in Cameroon from February 5 to 9, 2018, the delegation of the 77 years old International Council of Archives also granted a conference on young professionals of ICA and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government following an authorization from the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
