Hon. Atinda is regent traditional ruler of Mbu Bakundu –Konye

Honourable Atinda Martin Mboni erstwhile Member of the National Assembly has been selected as the Regent Traditional Ruler of Mbu Bakundu village of  Northern Bakundu, in Konye Sub Division.

He was unanimously chosen by kingmarkers, other traditional title holders  in a purely traditional ceremony  chaired by the  current  traditional ruler of Mbu Bakundu , HRM Chief  Nakoma John Nekena on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Handing over the baton of command to Hon Atinda Martin to act and represent the village in all outings that can be beneficial to the community, HRM Chief Nakoma John Nekena said, he has ruled the village for over four decades and due to his age he needed a dynamic, young and energetic man to take over and continue with the herculean task in bringing development to MbuBakundu. He said Mbu Bakundu  is a standard village and needs to develop like every child. He disclosed that Mbu Bakundu  has about six villages  which with a rich and fertile soil, vast  under exploited forest as well as unexploited minerals.  He hinted the most important hurdle of the village is road and thus choosing Hon Atinda Martin as the regent “paramount 2nd class chief” of Mbu Bakundu  who has been unanimously endorsed by the kingmakers and traditional title holders of the entire village  is not by error, because Hon Atinda is their son in whom the entire village is well pleased and has and is still  doing much in enhancing development in the community. HRM Chief Nakoma called for frank collaboration between the regent chief and kingmakers of the village.

Reacting to the decision of the Mbu Bkundu people  for endorsing and crowning him as regent chief of the village with a population of above 7,000 inhabitants, Hon Atinda Martin, said he will represent the Chief according to instructions  handed him, respect and uphold the tradition of the Bakundu tribe in general and Mbu Bakundu village in particular, effect development in the community while collaborating with the Mbu Bakundu Development  Union to ensure that construction of roads, health facilities, education establishment, encourage scholarship scheme to meritorious students from the area and ensure the complete transformation of the community  into a modern cosmopolitan  community.

The ceremony ended with the traditional animation as the announcement regarding the next traditional ruler of the community was well received by representatives of the various families that make up Mbu Bakundu Village.

Hon. Atinda served in the Lower house of Parliament during the 2013-2020 legislature representing Meme West Constituency of Konye and Mbonge Sub Divisions in Meme Division, South West Region under the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement , CPDM party. He is the current principal of Cameroon College of Arts and Science, CCAS Kumba.
