The Director of the Kumba District Hospital, Dr. Sandrine Emmanuelle Mve Biwole has in a communiqué announced the functioning of the hospital’s theatres, both minor and major after the arson attack razed the theatres and other segments of the hospital to ashes.
“The Director of the Kumba District Hospital wishes to announce to the public that the District Hospital Kumba is still functioning despite the destructive fire incident. The hospital is therefore happy to inform the public that the operating theatre (minor and major) will be operational next week”.
The communiqué dated March 14, also disclosed that the first caesarean operation C/S was carried out successfully at the maternity theatre.
“Also, we wish to inform our patients in the communities that the theatre of the maternity is already operational and the first C/S was done on the 13th of March, 2019 successfully”.
The Director through the radio announcement further assured the population of Kumba and beyond that the hospital will continue to provide quality health care.
It should be recalled that the hospital was under arson attack on the night of Sunday February 10 2019. The fire incident consumed the theatre, nurses’ quarters, male and female surgical wards, gen room and others. It equally led to four deaths and the destruction of vehicles.
A video circulating on social media revealed how patients and health practitioners were left stranded.
