The Kumba III Council in Meme Division shall in the days ahead benefit the construction of an ultra-modern market in Mambanda and the Mambanda Motor Park, from the Kumba City Council.
The information was disclosed by the Mayor of the Kumba III Council, John Kona Makia during the council’s administrative, management and stores accounts session, presided at by the First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer, 1st ASDO for Meme Division, Joseph Nguime, at the Kumba III Council chambers.
Mayor Makia in his address told the councillors that despite the fact that they created the Mambanda Motor Park and even own the land, for the sake of development of the municipality, they can cede the land totally to the City Council.
The councillors unanimously supported the motion, given the important role the two projects will play in the development of the municipality.
The Mayor further revealed that the Ministry of Tourism has awarded the Kumba III Council a recreational Tourism Center worth FCFA 1.561million which they will need to acquire a site for the project.
Talking about finances, the Mayor said the 2018 budget drawn to balance in revenue and expenditure at the sum of FCFA 400million, over FCFA 222million was collected, constituting a 55.5% realization rate, while total expenditure stands at over FCFA 181million, constituting a budget realization rate of 45.4% with an excess of revenue over expenditure of over FCFA 40million.
Mayor Makia noted that the drop in local collection is as a result of the socio-political crisis plaguing the region.
The 1st ASDO on his part said the 45.4% spent on investment is laudable since it is above the 40% prescribed by the law.
Some projects carried out in 2018 include; grading of some streets, distribution of didactic materials to all Primary schools within the municipality, donation of tricycles to persons living with disabilities, assistance to internally displaced persons and orphanages within the Kumba III municipality etc, meanwhile, grading of Teke road could not be carried out because of insecurity.
