At least three gendarmes killed in Kembong attack

A gendarmerie post is reported to have come under attack by assailants believed to be separatist fighters in Kembong, Manyu Division. At least three military officials are reported to have been killed while one of the assailants was also killed by the military.
The military post is said to have been torched by the assailants and weapons carted away.
Meanwhile in Mamfe, a lady was picked by a stray bullet from a military officer’s gun around the Mamfe Park where she roasts fish. The officer is said to have been firing at a young man dressed in white with the Ambazonian flag wrapped around him towards the evening hours.
Sources recount that the military officer’s intended target escaped unscathed while the lady was rushed to the military hospital where she finally died. Her corpse was later sent to the mortuary.
In the wake of the attacks, the SDO for Manyu Oum II Joseph signed a communiqué prohibiting the circulation of motor bikes in Mamfe from Friday the 9th of February 2018 and says it must continue for one week..
In a related story, a young man in his early 30s from Ngwah village in Fundong Sub division was shot dead at a funeral in Meli village. The young man met his unfortunate end when the military was trying to arrest a certain Amahngeh, suspected to be a member of the Ambazonian fighters.
It was on the night of Saturday, February 10, 2018 that the home of the suspect in Meli village was invaded by military officers during the second day of his late father’s funeral ceremony which is usually held at night in the Kom Fondom.
After breaking down doors, the military fired some warning shot which unfortunately killed another bystander. His corpse was transferred to the Fundong district Hospital mortuary by the mayor of Fundong council at about 9am Sunday morning.
The suspected Ambazonian fighter was arrested and carried away to an unknown destination. During the last day of the funeral celebration of Yi Ndo Many Mufua, the late father of the suspect, on February 11th 2018, rumours filtered into the village that the suspected Ambazonian fighter had escaped, killing some officers and that the Rapid Intervention Battalion was on its way back to the village. This news sent the over 1000 persons at the funeral into bushes and diverse routes including masquerades.
