Permanent as well as casual workers of the Limbe City Council have joined their colleagues in Fako to celebrate May Day or Labour Day 2017 in a flamboyant style.
After the march pass at the Manga Williams avenue, the casual workers ferried to the City Council reception hall while the permanent staff moved to the City Council hall at Down Beach for a memorable evening with their boss, Andrew Motanga Monjimba.
Some of were overjoyed with the fun and merry atmosphere of the day.
Hope Mbella, head of Group A team of the Municipal Police: “I did not think the day will be like this, given the current upheavals in the country. I am very grateful that everything went well and we are here to celebrate, relax and have fun. Concerning social dialogue, I think the situation in the City Council is almost perfect. When you have any problem with the boss, you are very to ask for an audience with him and straighten out things. The staff delegates are equally doing a great job in reducing the gap between our employer and us the employees.”
Gisele Simbo, voucher clerk: “This is my first Labour Day with the Limbe City Council, and I feel so elated to be part of this distinct establishment. It is a day set aside to appreciate workers and let them to relax for the work they have been doing. The social collaboration with my immediate boss is very conducive, not tense. I am free to ask questions when I am supposed to; and I make sure to do every task assigned to me.”
To honour their boss, Andrew Motanga Monjimba, the workers made a special goat barbecue for the Government Delegate to have a swell time and as appreciation for his diligence and love for them. After a very palatable and sumptuous buffet, the floor was then opened and made danceable by the Government Delegate and some directors and staff delegates and their dance partners.
