An exhibition has been organised recently by the Littoral Delegation of Employment at the Douala Advanced Vocational Training Centre called “showcasing Jobs,” to promote job opportunities for those undergoing technical training and other ventures.
Discussions and presentations were held and made by officials of the delegation, school authorities, employers and academic experts from all works of life who massively took part under the theme “Technological innovations, economic performance and its impact on employment at this period of the Covid-19 pandemic”.
Some of the results of the discussions and presentations were that living with the pandemic is motivating employers to innovate and through that, creating jobs through digitisation and by so doing, limit physical interactions when engaged in business transactions. Such jobs are now done within banking services and sales transactions among countless others in the making.
Strong and urgent calls were made by MINEFOP local authorities and employers that the Douala Advanced Vocational Training Centre, headed by Amadou Bobbo should therefore adjust its curriculum to train and mentor skills to fulfil our urgent local needs.
The regional delegate, speaking at the occasion, said many new jobs have been created online because of the presence of the pandemic. He talked about the orientation of skills and the need for efficiency and competence in these and other domains by the trainees in order to satisfy the job market and so on.
Mr Elissa Dawaï said as president of the organising committee, they present the opportunities, motivate the youths to permit the young to meet with employers willing to employ, to foster auto-employment and other goals for organising the session.
A cross-section of many corporate entities such as MTN, Orange, Total Energies, Dangote, Bollore, Camrail among others and employers associations harbouring the private sector such as e-CAM, GICAM, Syndustricam, EmploiRH and CCIMA participated.
