Thousands of Cameroonians across Meme Division over the weekend demonstrated in major streets of Kumba and in other villages in the five Sub-Divisions that make up the Division to show their anger and hatred to the Yaounde regime in general and President Paul Biya in particular.
The demonstration was in respect of calls from the Southern Cameroons Governing Council and other diaspora leaders ahead of President Paul Biya’s speech at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.
The protesters marched from various points of the town carrying placards with messages calling on the Head of State to stop the marginalization of the Anglophones and liberate this part of the country.
Others carried peace plants, balloons and plastic papers with blue and white colours chanting songs of freedom and liberation and hoisted the ‘Ambazonia’ flag in some chiefdoms and public places in Meme Division.
The protesters equally made several turns to the Meme SDO’s office to voice out their grievances.
The peaceful protest equally took them to the palace of the Paramount Ruler of the Bafaw and traditional ruler of Kumba, Senator Nfon V.E Mukete to voice out their worries.
Responding to the worries raised Senator Nfon Mukete told the angry population that he has heard.
Meanwhile all through the protest period, shops remained closed, with timid movement of people and timid circulation of vehicles around the city.
Students who went to school managed to make their way home as some were guarded by their parents.
Reports hold that three persons were shot, leaving one dead and two injured in Ikiliwindi, Konye Sub-Division in Meme Division.
The situation, The Sun learned, provoked the population to set ablaze the Gendermarie post of Ikiliwindi and a military vehicle.
