Mbeumo’s last-minute goal secures Brentford 4:3 win over Ipswich Town

Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), has declined all responsibility for the organisation of the two gala matches scheduled for December 2024, on the sidelines of the 3rd edition of the Banana- Plantain Festival. While his name appeared on the posters as organiser and even captain of the Cameroonian legends team, Eto’o distanced himself through an official statement from FECAFOOT, signed by its secretary general, Blaise Djounang.

This press release, published on October 25, 2024, specifies that neither FECAFOOT nor Samuel Eto’o, in a personal capacity, are associated with the holding of these meetings between former Cameroonian players and former Brazilian internationals.

The Federation said it learned of the matches through social media and has no involvement in their organisation. “The Cameroon Football Federation wishes to decline its responsibility: neither the FECAFOOT institution, nor its president in a personal capacity, is associated in any way with the said organisation,” Djounang’s press release stated. These gala matches are supposed to take place as part of the festivities of the Banana- Plantain Festival, which will celebrate its third edition in December 2024.

However, with the public disassociation from FECAFOOT, it remains to be seen how this event will finally be organised.
