The much heralded meet-the-people tour by the Divisional Officer for Mbonge Sub Division, in Meme Division to the 96 villages that make up the division has been suspended till further notice.
The D.O, Befolo Bike Alain Serge suspended the socio-economic tour barely four days after the first lap of the tour.
The D.O had already made a tour to about nine villages including; Mabonji, Ediki, Mbalangi, Bombe Bakundu, Banga Bakundu, Kwa-Kwa, Kombone Mission, Kombone Bakundu,Big Nganjo and Nganjo –Titi.
The reason for the suspension of the tour has not been made public but many say it may not be unrelated to the hostile reception the DO got during the first lap of his tour.
THE SUN gathered that the D.O didn’t have it easy with the population of some of the villages. In Kwa-Kwa village, the D.O and the Mayor of Mbonge, HRH Chief Matta Mokambe had to run for their dear lives. They were chased by the population with stones forcing the D.O and his entourage to take different directions. While the D.O took the direction of Mbonge in that confusion, the Mayor took the direction of Kumba.
In Mabonji village, the D.O and his entourage were confronted harshly when the D.O allegedly “ mocked” the population by asking them to remind Sisiku Tabe Ayuk, the Chairman of the Southern Cameroon Governing Council, that he (the D.O) is here and ready to arrest him.
Here the population replied by lashing out at the D.O before disappearing from the scene, leaving the D.O and entourage to themselves.
At Kombone mission, the DO had to honour a flagless pole during the singing of the National Anthem.
