The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Meme Division, Chamberlain Ntou’ou Ndong has disclosed that in the days ahead, the forces of law and order will accompany him to some deserted and war-torn areas like Mbonge to distribute government humanitarian aid.
Meme SDO revealed this to reporters after launching the distribution of government humanitarian aid that comprises items such as bags of rice, bas of salt, mattresses, and cartons of maggi, soap, vegetable oil, blankets, toilet rolls and a host of others to displaced persons in his division.
The ceremony that took place August 8 at the Kumba Amusement Park saw the turnout of some displaced persons.
“We are going to use this amusement park as the main centre of the distribution, some other areas are a little bit far like Mbonge but with time the SDO with my forces of law and order will move to Mbonge to try to discuss and share these items to the population who are living inside the bushes,” the SDO noted.
Earlier on, the administrator while thanking the President for yielding to the cry of his people told the population that the Head of State knows their problems reasons why he has sent these gifts to assist them during this difficult period in their life.
“Let me first of all thank the Head of State for assisting my population because when he hears that people are suffering and he decides to send support to the affected persons this gives me joy as the first citizen of the division,” the SDO said.
He further encouraged displaced persons who are afraid to come and collect the items for one reason or the other to do so for their own good.
“I want to use this opportunity to sensitize my population, especially those who are afraid to come that these things are for them, they just need to come at the Amusement Park and collect their own share,” the SDO said.
The few courageous persons who came to collect the items said it was going to ameliorate their living conditions.
“We used to use loincloth to cover ourselves but this blanket is going to help us to cover ourselves from cold during this rainy season,” a beneficiary said.
Others however, promised to share with family members and friends who were unable to come and collect the gifts.
“I fell so happy and I pray for peace to reign in our country. I am going to share the gift with my people who are running and are now living in the bushes,” a beneficiary from Ikiliwindi Mile 10 said.
