The Second Assistant Senior Divisional Officer, 2nd ASDO for Meme Division, Hermia Njonje has in strong terms frown at the poor turnout of stakeholders and the population in the 1st planning meeting ahead of this year’s National Day celebration come May 20. Hermia Njonje said this on Thursday April, 25 at the Kumba City Council Hall.
According to the administrator, it is so disheartening to know that no Divisional Officer, D.O nor Mayor was present in a meeting of such magnitude. She regretted the fact that only few Divisional Delegates answered present.
The 1st planning meeting was meant to put in place strategies to ensure a hitch free celebration come May 20. It was also an avenue for the various stakeholders to divide themselves into committees to ensure a smooth celebration.
Discussions during the meeting focused on how to overcome the insecurity that might characterize the day given the fact that it falls on a Monday, normally respected as ‘ghost town’ in the town and elsewhere.
This, some participants said might affect the turnout of the population who are either scared or do not have a means to reach the grandstand since bikes and vehicles will not ply the roads.
