The newly appointed and installed head coach of the Cameroon national football squad, Marc Brys meeting at the headquarters of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT has sparked up more controversy. The new coach alongside his two expatriate assistants was part of a working session on Monday, May 13, 2024 at FECAFOOT. In a press release issued by the Secretary General of FECAFOOT, Djounang Blaise, he chaired an important working session at the FECAFOOT Head Office at Tsinga in Yaounde, with the technical team of the indomitable lions appointed recently and headed by Marc Brys.
The FECAFOOT SG described the meeting to have taken place in absolute conviviality and total harmony. He said professional contacts were shared and important announcement on summoning players in the national team were made.
Marc Brys was reminded that at the end of the verification of conformity, players will exclusively be summoned and without any interference according to his list and that non conformity cases will be brought to his knowledge so that he could proceed with appropriate replacement.
FECAFOOT congratulated itself for the return of serenity and reassured its total availability to respect the very high prescription of the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya, guided by the law and regulations in force.
However, aside from Marc Brys and his two expatriate assistants, it is still not clear whether they will be accompanied by the government or FECAFOOT appointed assistants. A photo circulating at the end of the working session has remained the topic of divided opinion amongst Cameroonians. The picture shows Marc Brys and his assistants, alongside some FECAFOOT officials and members of the FECAFOOT–appointed technical team, and those appointed by the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education who have already havd their contracts signed, together with Marc Brys and co.
According to Cyrille Tollo, a technical advisor at the Ministry of Sports, “FECAFOOT is under the authority of the Ministry of Sports. What the Ministry of Sports is currently doing is simply implementing the instructions of the President of the Republic. There is no more debate. Do you want the President to go back on his word and arbitrate between the government and a sports association? Keep in mind that the Ministry can simply revoke its approval of the federation”, he states.
FECAFOOT has described today’s meeting with Mr Marc Brys as fruitful and as “the return of serenity”. As of now, FECAFOOT has however officialised the first list of new Indomitable Lions head coach Marc Brys.
