The Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, His Excellency, Ran Gidor has unveiled plans to begin a mentorship programme that will contribute to promoting dialogue at grassroots level in the country.
The Israeli Ambassador discussed the idea with the President of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, Peter Mafany Musonge during an audience the latter granted him at the Commission’s Office at Emergence Building in Yaounde last April 25, 2019 in the presence of the Commission’s Vice President, Oumarou Djika and Secretary General, Dr Chi Asafor Cornelius.
Ambassador Ran Gidor told reporters that “We also used the opportunity to share with the President an idea that we have. We are about starting a mentorship programme in Cameroon which will contribute to dialogue at the grassroots level, among students in universities. We had a very fruitful discussion and I am sure we have many more opportunities for cooperation with the commission.”
The Diplomat disclosed after the closed curtain brief audience that he equally used the opportunity to wish members of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism well in the accomplishment of their challenging mission of using bilingualism and multiculturalism to maintain peace and stability in Cameroon and in the Central African sub region.
Talking to reporters shortly after the brief audience, the Israeli Ambassador disclosed that “I was honoured to meet the President and his colleagues. The reason why I had to meet them was first of all for me to express my first-hand impression on the important work they are doing. As I told the President of the Commission, we of the Embassy of Israel together with the rest of the international community think that the work of the commission is critically important not just for Cameroon but for the entire region so we came to wish the President and other members success.”
