Education and Sport for All, in partnership with Victory Youths Mokindi and Green and Better World, all Non Governmental Organisations in town of Limbe have distributed foodstuffs and clothing to some Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in Isokolo, in the Limbe II sub division, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of their community by giving a helping hand to those in need and putting a smile on their faces during the festive period.
Divine Etuge N., founder of Education and Sport for All carried out the distribution of these items donated by people of goodwill in the community recently at the Isokolo community hall.
He explained that when he started Education and Sport for All in 1999, he mostly concentrated in football activities and organising holiday classes, but that due to insecurity, they couldn’t function well. Nevertheless, he realised they could still do something in the humanitarian light, when they saw an influx of IDPs in their community with very desperate situations.
He went further to disclose that they have registered over 350 of these IDPs and they will be assisting them in groups. Sharing their experiences as displaced persons, a mother from Ekona explained her sorrowful ordeal since the advent of the crisis and the effect it has on her as an IDP. She said she is happy with the gifts because it will help her family during the festive season because it has not been easy at all since the work load is unbearable.
“I am happy with the initiators of this programme because since I came to Limbe, no one has shown this kind of love to me” explained a joyful IDP. I wish the crisis comes to an end so that we can return to our various homes and live in peace.”
Most of their experiences and frustrations were similar and most of them are hoping things get better so they can return to their homes while others prefer to stay in Limbe because they have nothing to go back to.
They all joined their voices to thank Divine Etuge and his partners for the gifts which they said will help them a lot. The IDPs left visibly happy with the desire to keep hoping for things to get better.
