The Coordinator of the Now Movement for the South West and North West regions, Walter Ngom Mudoh has expressed joy over the endorsement of Batonnier Akere Muna as Presidential candidate of a coalition of some opposition political parties in the 2025 polls.

He said their mission to Yaounde is very clear: “Our presence here demonstrates the zeal to support the actions of those on ground to build and reconstruct the nation. We are also here to strengthen our resolve in the fight against corruption that has eaten into the fabric of our society”, Ngom said.

Speaking on behalf of members of Now Movement who travelled from the two English speaking regions of Cameroon, Walter Ngom Mudoh said, “I can see the powerful delegations from Wum in Menchum Division, Bum in Boyo Division, Widikum in Momo Division of the North West Region and Ekondo Titi in Ndian Division, Buea, Limbe and Tiko, in Fako Division and lastly Kumba in Meme Division of the South West region of Cameroon.”

He said, “The endorsement will rekindle hope for the Cameroon opposition that has been described by many political scholars as a divided house, which lacks the coordinated force to challenge the ruling parties that has ruled and reigned for four decades. This great event is going to make Cameroon working again on grounds that the leader of this Union is someone that has stood on the side of the downtrodden and the oppressed citizens of this country.”

The Now Movement Anglophone caucus stressed that, “Our take home message to Batonnier Akere Muna is simple; this is a big challenge for you, everyone is expecting to see how you will use this position given you to appeal to Cameroonians at home and in the Diaspora to come on board and engage themselves democratically for the fight for change in the country.”

He added that, “Your engagement on global issues in the fight against corruption, good governance and democracy gives you high latitude to make the difference. We would love to see you make use of your rich career as an international lawyer to make surrounding nations stare by giving this country a fresh breath, in addition to that, one hot file awaits you if elected in office in October 2025: how to solve the armed conflict that is raging in the former British Southern Cameroon, with close to one million people alleged to have been internally displaced and close to one million five hundred thousand as refugees in Nigeria.”
