NW Governor warns against degeneration of patriotism amongst youths

Speaking to address the cross section of Youth leaders of his region attending a one day training workshop on youth leadership under the theme; “youth participation in election and decision making for nation building” organized by the United Council for Youths Empowerment “UNYE” the representative of NW governor Nji Joseph, who is the economic and social affairs adviser at the NW governor’s office, called on the youths to desist from deviant behaviours that may jeopardize the harmonious community life in the region. Such behaviours, he said, includes; the non- respect of state and its Republican institution, the widespread degeneration of patriotic commitment; the loss of notion of supreme interest to personal interest, moral decadence, Juvenal delinquency among many others.

According to him, the above mentioned negative behaviours undermined the clairvoyant actions of the head of state to build an “exemplary Republic” by way of molding and constantly training the youths of Cameroon to know their civic obligations which include the right and duty to vote and be voted. The NW governor’s representative in one voice with the regional delegate for youth affairs, Mme Kelly Nchia Victorine, stressed the importance of the training workshop by UCYE as they urged the youth leaders to follow closely the workshop so, they can make meaningful and positive contributions to the future of the nation.
The mayor of Bamenda II council, Balick Awa Fidelis on his part noted that if every nation that wants to stay on, survive, and face the challenges of modern democracy which are incompatible with technological advancement, enough attention should be paid to the youths who are considered leaders of tomorrow.
Fabian Ekukwe Lyonga, founder and president of the United Council for Youth Empowerment and team while revealing their mission to the NWR in an opening speech made during the workshop said, following the plan of emergence put in place by the head of state president Paul Biya, he and his team decided to join their voices to that of government to foster development at all levels. The power of the youth, he said, is compared to the strength of an eagle as he urged them to use their youthfulness to serve and build the nation. He urged them to desist from balkanization, prejudices, tribalism, nepotism, hate amongst other things, to pursue their core values which is based on talent development and human investment. Though Fabian Ekukwe Lyonga stated that his organization is a non-money making group void of politics, it should be noted that the global youth activist is the section secretary general of the YCPDM for Fako IV.
