The allegation of the embezzlement of state property by the secretary general of the Cameroon National Youth Council CNYC for the northwest region, Mukong Elvis was made public to the members on Tuesday, May 10, 2017 by the regional president of the said organization, Ihimbru Vincent Bache during an extra ordinary session to disburse a long due sums of Fcfa one Million (1’000’000francs) and above all, prepare the youth ahead of the celebration of the 2017 National Day. The meeting took place at the regional delegation of Youth and Civic Education conference hall and was personally chaired by the regional delegate of MINJEC, Mme Kelly Nchia Victorine in collaboration with her peers.
“Time is fast running out and my three-year mandate at the helm of the North West National Youth Council CNYC will soon be over. I will have to render account on my stewardship for this period I served you”. These were the words of Ihimbru Vincent Bache to the youths in the presence of the Youths and Civic Education delegate, Mme Kelly Nchia Victorine, before narrating that when he took office in 2013, he and the secretary general, Mukong Elvis traveled to Yaounde to attend a meeting where a computer estimated at over Fcfa two million (2,000,000) was handed to Mukong to serve their secretariat. He said since then, the secretary has neither brought the said computer to the secretariat nor given a credible explanation as to what may have happened to the computer.
Following this report, Mme Kelly Nchia Victorine, immediately ordered for the return of the computer by Mukong Elvis or face the possibility of being dragged to court for embezzlement of state property.
According to her, many youth have joined the youth council with the aim of making money for their selfish interest and the state has in the pat fallen prey to these individuals when loans were handed to them through programmes like Accefa, Pa-jeu. She said the process to get loans now by the youths is more difficult because of this nonchalance and dubiousness by some of the youths. She urged them to be upright so as to benefit from government’s largesse. Meanwhile some ethical norms of civic education were spelt out to the youths by the chief of services of the regional delegation.
In an early speech by the northwest president of the Cameroon National Youth Council, Ihimbru Vincent Bache, tribute was paid to the head of state HE president Paul Biya, for appointing their national president of the youth council into the Musonge-led Bilingualism and multiculturalism commission. A step, he said, gives them hope to believe in the notion of being leaders of tomorrow.
Reports from the seven divisional presidents of CNYC were read with each one of them promising to mobilize youths to participate massively in the cerebration of the 20th National Day in their division of command.
