The 23rd University Games hosted by the University of Ngaoundere has ended with a note of satisfaction everywhere. What will be remembered for a long while is the active participation of the sponsor of the event, mobile telephone company, Orange Cameroon, who virtually turned Ngoundere and especially the campus orange for more than a week. Orange Cameroon was at the front, back and centre of the activities. Their sponsorship took the games to another level.
The opening caravan of the University Games of Ngaoundéré was marked by the remarkable presence of the Orange Cameroon brand. This caravan was an opportunity for Orange to show its presence in the host city and to signify its commitment to the youth and its customers in this part of the country.
In addition to this presence at the opening of the games, Orange Cameroon also launched a Clean Campus operation. More than 200 young volunteers were recruited to ensure cleanliness on the entire campus during the week of activities. These young people went through the accesses of the university in the region of Château d’Eau to rid the campus of all waste.
Orange Cameroon has thus marked the spirits during these university games by showing its commitment to youth and the environment. Many people appreciated this initiative which allowed the brand to be associated with positive and important values for the society.
Successful gaming at the University Games
During the 23rd edition of the University Games in Ngaoundéré, Orange Cameroon organized a gaming day that attracted many E-sports fans. This day was a success thanks to the variety of activities proposed and the commitment of the brand towards the youth. The gaming booth of Orange Cameroon offered E-sports fans the opportunity to play games such as Just Dance, soccer or virtual reality. Young people were able to have fun and be entertained as they wished thanks to Orange. E-sports fans appreciated this initiative and expressed their satisfaction with the quality of activities offered through ESport experience, Orange Cameroon also contributes to the promotion of e-sports as a recognized sporting activity. Thanks to the day dedicated to E-sports, the youths were able to discover the advantages of this discipline and familiarize themselves with the different games proposed. Proof that the activity was a real success.
Orange Cameroon in the spotlight during the university games
The fourth day of the university games was marked by the presence of one of the major partners of the event, Orange Cameroon, from the Fans’ club through the members of the FENASU to the fans clubs without forgetting the media, all of them wore the colors of the mobile phone operator. The Orange day was rich in activities, including the visit of the Rector of the University of Ngaoundéré UPHIE CHINJE Florence at the Orange stand, which also participated in a gaming session. The fans clubs were also put to contribution with the fans club challenge and the bottle challenge. But it is especially the presence of the artist Guifto le Russ with his single “le Car qui Part” which aroused the enthusiasm of the students. The singer offered a memorable performance to close this day full of emotions.
Beyond this dedicated day, Orange Cameroon continues to support Cameroonian students in their projects and initiatives. The operator is particularly involved in the digitalization of universities and regularly organizes events to promote jobs and digital technologies among young people. Hence a hackathon, this digital marathon for the production of ideas for solutions to the problems of digitalization of Cameroonian universities. This competition allowed students from different participating universities to show their know-how in programming. The Hackathon saw the participation of nearly fifty students from different universities. After five (5) days of competition, the University of Ngaoundéré won the competition and the sum of five hundred thousand CFA francs (500,000).
The Orange Foundation stands by the Lamidat of Ngaoundéré
Within the framework of the university games, the Orange Foundation also seized to reinforce its social responsibility towards the populations by offering a donation of computer equipment to the Lamidat school of Ngaoundéré. This donation consists of computers, inverters, modems as well as credit cards aimed at digital inclusion in schools as desired by the foundation. The official handing over of this donation took place in the presence of representatives of the school, administrative and local authorities, the rector of the University of Ngaoundéré as well as officials of the Orange Foundation who subsequently expressed their gratitude for this act of generosity on the part of the Orange Foundation.
Orange Cameroon closes the university games with the Pulse Party
The Pulse Party organized by Orange Cameroon was the main event of the closing of the university games. The evening was marked by the presence of two urban stars Ko-C and Mimi. The youth of Ngaoundéré gathered in large numbers to celebrate the end of this sporting and cultural event. During this evening, Orange Cameroon also gave prizes to the winners of the Hackathon and the winners of the E-sport. These two competitions were organized as part of the university games to promote the spirit of innovation and the use of digital technologies. In addition to these awards, Orange Cameroon organized drawings to allow young people to win televisions and the sum of 500 000 CFA francs. These gifts were distributed to the lucky winners under the applause of the crowd.
