The first session of the Adhoc Committee for the Intervention and Follow up of investment programmes in the three newly created state universities of Bertoua, Ebolowa and Garoua took place last May 9, 2023 at the Ministry of Higher Education and was chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo.
The Minister of State, Prof Fame Ndongo instructed that work to level the foundations in the three universities must start last May 10, 2023. By the end of April 2024, the Ministry of Higher Education is expected to receive the constructed buildings.
The meeting was attended by the concerned universities rectors, heads of enterprises, officials of companies in charge of executing the projects, South, East and North Regional Delegates of Public Works, engineers of the said works and certain officials of the Ministry of Higher Education.
Speaking at the opening, the Minister of State said “we don’t want the works to be delayed and abandoned because the projects are supervised by the President of the Republic, H.E Paul Biya.” “Nobody will take money for school projects and disappear with it because his or her conscience will judge them for what they did.” Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo warned.
He called on them to use their professional experience to make sure that the works go on well. “Let nobody ask you five frs to start the work in my name. If that happens, my door is opened.” The Minister warned those to execute the projects.
Members of the adhoc committee examined and adopted modalities for the launching of the first investment projects in the three new State universities evaluated at FCFA 254,930,671,889 and with the Head of State accord for BIP MINEPAT /MINESUP of FCFA 25,300,656,313 for a simultaneous host capacity of 2,800 places in Ebolowa, 3,520 places in Bertoua and 2,320 places in Garoua.
