SDF faults local administrators for restricting freedom, liberty -Keeps momentum going

The Social Democratic Front SDF party has condemned in strong terms the attitude of some local administrators which the party holds is geared towards restricting freedom and liberties of especially opposition parties, in the build up to the 2025 Presidential election.

As part of its resolutions following its recent National Executive Committee NEC meeting which held in Bafoussam, West Region, a point stated that the SDF “Vehemently condemns the erratic attitude of some sub-divisional and divisional officers in restricting the freedom and liberties of opposition political parties in carrying out their activities and reminds the government that the rights and freedoms of individuals and associations in Cameroon is clearly enshrined in the 1990 liberty laws and our Constitution”.

Recall the SDF rally in Obala, Centre Region was cancelled few hours to the start by local authorities on ground that the venue for the planned rally was unavailable. Also, the party’s mega rally programmed for Mutengene, South West region last May 30 did not hold. Reports suggest that the cancellation was related to the PM’s presence in Buea, same period.

Nonetheless, the SDF staged its rally in Magba, Noun Division of the West and its visit to Baba II, North West region to commune with the spirit of its founding Chairman, John Fru Ndi, showed a party with a strong bond, inseparable even by death.

Osih sets to restore Ernest Ouandie’s tomb

Hon. Joshua Osih, SDF National Chairman and 2025 presidential candidate, has financially supported the restoration of Ernest Ouandié’s tomb, a key figure in Cameroon’s independence who was executed in 1971. The initiative, led by Father Ludovic Lado, follows the tomb’s vandalism on the night of March 9–10, 2025. The act of desecration sparked renewed controversy after activist Abel Elimbi Lobe labeled Ouandié a “bandit” on live TV, triggering widespread backlash. Father Lado thanked Osih for his support and encouraged other political parties to contribute, affirming that the project, though slow to start, is still progressing.
