Hon. Dr. Lukong Joseph Banadzem, parliamentary group leader of the opposition Social Democratic Front (SDF) party has died. The career lawmaker is said to have died at the Yaoundé General Hospital at about 3:30am Saturday March 30, 2019.
A statement from the SDF shadow cabinet Minister in charge of Information and Media, Jean Robert Wafo announced the passing unto glory of a man considered a pillar of the party.
The SDF Member of the National Assembly for Bui Centre Constituency in the North West region was in Yaoundé for the 9th legislature that opened three weeks ago at the National Assembly.
He was member of the Committee on Defence and National Security at the National Assembly and was negotiating the final lap of his 2nd term as SDF group leader. He became SDF National Assembly group leader in 2007.
Hon. Dr. Lukong Joseph Banadzem died months before the end of his third term in parliament. He died at a time the National Assembly was examining the draft bill on regional elections and that allocating number of sits and modalities for the election of regional councilors and representatives of chiefs.
