The General Manager of the Subcontractors and Partnership Exchange of Cameroon (SPX-CMR) has exhorted SMEs and Small and Medium-sized Industries (SMIs) to remain resolutely resilient despite the dangers faced economically because of the crisis caused by the Pandemic.
Evariste Yameni made this known to members recently in an occasion that was held in Douala to evaluate the negative effects of COVID-19 on their activities.
SPX-CMR (also known as BSTP-CMR) operates as one of the pillars of MINPMEESA that awards sub-contracts from corporate entities to SMEs and SMIs in Cameroon. However, it is also known to be having the side effects of the global pandemic.

Evariste Yameni told members that: “it (the pandemic) has radically modified our lives with immeasurable economic consequences in the nation and that of SMEs/SMIs. We are yet facing partial confinement but the losses, when evaluated at a future date, are expected to be heavy. For these reasons, I exhort you to become very courageous, resilient and let us remain optimistic and confident towards the future.”
The administrator also raised hopes of containing the virus, revealing that: “Efforts are being made by researchers to find a cure or a vaccine to contain its spread. Let those who have something to do better hold tight.”
The government spokesman went ahead saying that government is making efforts to limit the economic consequences. He was quoted as saying that urgent studies to evaluate the depth of the impact of COVID-19 on the economy are being made by Yaounde. The result will include what financial support to be made available to sustain the activities of the subsector. Their inclusion for financial support was orchestrated by SPX-CMR.
Evariste Yameni told members: “we never hesitate at any instance to defend your interests. Always respect government’s sanitary measures”.
