Victoria United FC raises FCFA 20.2 million in mini fund raiser

Victoria United, South West champions on Friday, August 19, 2022 raised FCFA 20.2 million in a mini fund raiser held in Limbe barely weeks to the kickoff of the 2022 national Interpools billed for Limbe.

Addressing football stakeholders and partners the Senior Divisional Officer of Fako Division, Chaibou appreciated the initiative of the executive of Victoria United FC to revamp football in the South West Region over 5 years now.

He congratulated the management, playing and coaching staff of Opopo for their brilliant performance throughout the 2021/2022 South West regional football championship.

He said the day should be recorded in history as the day football in the South West region took a different turn.

Chaibou challenged the management of Victoria United FC and other football stakeholders of the South West Region to uphold the value and never let the loving people of the South West Region down but exploit the football infrastructures given by the Head of State.

“It the responsibility of football promoters and development agents to financially back the club’s ambition ahead of the national interpools, today will be recorded in history as the day football in the South West region took a different turn.” Chaibou said.

On his part, the Limbe City Mayor, Paul Efome Mbole Lisombe Ngale, lamented that for close to a decade now clubs in the South West Region and Limbe in particular have not been able to go through the national interpools stage.

“We think today we have the opportunity to rekindle our past glories and make South West Region and Limbe in particular to bounce back to be playing football in the national stage, it’s time to bring back the good old glory of clubs who use to brilliantly represent South West Region such as Victoria United FC, PWD Kumba, Tiko United FC, Mount Cameroon.” Paul Efome said.

On his part the 4th Vice President of FECAFOOT, Henry Njalla opined that Limbe is in dire need of a team in elite division. He added it is time for Limbe to gather together for a fund raising, while applauding the efforts of Victoria United FC club president for carrying the team so far.

Opopo United club President Bobdidy explained that he understands the challenges that lie ahead at the National Interpools, but he is optimistic and convinced with a collective effort Opopo would get to elite division.

The event witnessed the presence of the Paramount chief of Limbe John Elufa Manga Williams, Divisional Officer of Limbe I, Innocent Moni Nanje, Mayor of Limbe II Council, Chief Woka Ndive Ngale, club presidents, businessmen amongst others.
