Members of Victoria Home Boys Association, VIHA, on Sunday, July 28, 2019 extended a hand of solidarity to patients of the Limbe Regional Hospital Mile I and underprivileged children of CAHECAM orphanage at Isokolo Mokindi.
According to the president of the association, Eneme Mbua, the project is an annual event which started three years ago with 39 members, when they decided to help the needy and agreed that, hospitals and orphanage should be one of the places they can visit.
“We are having a lot of sympathy for the underprivileged; we will definitely come back here to see that some of their challenges are solved”, Eneme Mbua said. He added that, he is so touched with the situation which the children are living in, as it is not suitable and plead with Cameroonians of goodwill to stretch their hands to orphans.
During the mass at the Regional Hospital chapel, Rev. Fr. Albert Egbeji captioned his sermon ‘The importance of prayer’, drawn from Luke 11:1-13. The servant of God said prayer is very vital to a Christian, and stressed on the fact that one doesn’t need to pray only in the time of difficulties, but at all times so as to unite with God. He further urged the Christians to pray without ceasing so as to grow spiritually.
The representative of the Director of the Regional Hospital, personal adviser to the Director, Mbua William said he is grateful with the 10 side stools and 5 benches donated and that, it’s going to help them a lot. He added that the side stools, benches, soaps, toiletries, Omo etc will go a long way to help patients of the hospital.
On her part, the assistant madam of CAHECAM orphanage, Mama Virginia Victory appreciated the Victoria Home Boys Association for visiting them with amazing gifts that comprised of two bags of rice, 10 benches, Ovaltine, Omo, soaps among others.
She revealed that, the orphanage started as an NGO in 2011 but was transformed by Madam Abwe Delphine at Mokindi Isokolo in 2013. She however cited some challenges faced by the orphanage including the absence of water and electricity among others.
It should be noted that this is not the first time Victoria Home Boys Association is giving back to the community. Last year they handed 40 benches to GHS Mbonjo and also some items to orphanages in the Limbe municipality. The donation exercise was also an opportunity to present their uniform to the public.
