Barrister Ngosong Walter Bezankeng, the newly voted Secretary General of Fako Lawyers Association FAKLA, has said their team has as vision to make the association assertive and great again. In an exclusive chat he granted The SUN Newspaper recently, the new FAKLA scribe with over 10 years in practice said, “The vision and aspiration of our team is simple and harmless; we are resolute to make FAKLA assertive and great again”.
During the November 23, FAKLA election which held in Limbe, Barrister Ngosong Walter Bezankeng, Managing Partner of Fortitude Law Firm, Bonduma, Buea, succeeded to harvest 320 votes as against 144 scored by his opponent.
Reacting to the election, he told The SUN that, “In all honesty, the Saturday election was one of its kind, as it brought almost all Faklans to the fore with a resolute agenda to cast their votes to their preferred candidates. I think aside from the fact that the exercise was energy draining and took us to the following day, the electoral commission did its best to ensure that same was conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner without an invisible hand”.
In line with their victory, he says, “I must admit that in our Team Nouveliza, we acted as one and we were blessed to have with us, outstanding political game players who did their best to ensure that we did a groundbreaking campaign in a bid to project us to the place of VICTORY through landslide.”
The FAKLA scribe intimated to The SUN that, “My Victory came to fruition owing to the beliefs and confidence Faklans have for me. I am thankful to all Faklans for choosing TRUTH over MEN.”
From Presbyterian Primary School – Yoke- Muyuka where he obtained his FSLC, the lad proceeded to Seat of Wisdom College Fontem, and then Bilingual Grammar School Molyko, Buea, where he obtained both his “O” and “A” level certificates. In 2004, Barr Bezankeng was admitted to read Law in the University of Buea and later graduated with an LL.B (Hons) in 2007/2008. He became a bonafide member of Fako Lawyers Association in 2015 after taking his first oath as Pupil Barrister of the Cameroon Bar Association. On June 28, 2018, Barr Bezankeng took his final oath as a Full Fledge Advocate/ Barrister of the Supreme Court of Cameroon.
The 40-year-old says, “I am confident that I possess the competence and energy to navigate properly in the office of SG of FAKLA. I am resolute to re-brand and re-invent FAKLA by making my cherished and indelible contribution in projecting the association to the place of prominence, relevance and honour”, he says.
On his motivation to vie for post of FAKLA SG, he states that, “Having served FAKLA for four uninterrupted years as then Financial Secretary with an impeccable record of excellence and visible track records of excellence, I was poised to serve again through a more sensitive office of the S.G.” Barr Bezankeng previously served for four uninterrupted years as SG in Muyuka Lawyers Association.
“With the wealth of experiences, I believe that serving FAKLA in the office of the S.G will certainly expose me to greater challenges needed to decorate my legal destiny”, he says.
Talking about current challenges encountered in the way of his job, he says, “Well, some of the challenges in my job lie in my seemingly difficulty in ensuring that the rule of law takes the centre stage within my jurisdiction of practice. However, with the birth of this new Exco, we shall take dispositions to ensure that the Judicial malady is given a decent remedy.”
Being also a believer in God, Barr Bezankeng concludes that, “The righteous right hand of God should never depart from FAKLA”.
