‘Youths with Visions International’ a non-profit organization on Thursday, June 26, 2019 celebrated its second anniversary with prisoners of the Buea Central Prison, donating food which fed at least 500 prisoners as well as money.
According to the founder and CEO of the organization, Spencer Teke, the reason of going to the central prison is because they believe there are many innocent youths that are there because of the Anglophone crisis. He added that prisoners have to pay for their crimes, “but the crisis in our country has taken many innocent youths to prison”.
The CEO told The SUN that during the visit, “We were given the opportunity to inspire the prisoners with the word of God, in order to enrich their souls, for we need the word, to build hopes”, he said.
Teke holds that his organization is out to bring to reality a vision of hopeless youths, and that they believe it can be done through seminars, career orientation, entrepreneurship, talent development, giving hope to the hopeless etc.
He said they have been having small talk shows, seminars in entrepreneurship, encouraging youths in acting, and other reach-out programmes involving orphans, widows and people living with disability.
It should be noted that, in April this year, ‘Youths with Visions International’ held a major seminar on career orientation and also carried out humanitarian programmes to give hope to the hopeless.
Spencer Teke announced that in November 2019, they look forward to organizing a Founders Conference for organizations to come together to share their common goal. He added that they are expecting close to 100 founders to take part. The CEO however cited funding as a major challenge of growth, though he remains optimistic.
