Over 30 youths have been trained in digital marketing during a one-month training program. According to the Chief executive officer of Zixtech organization, Paul Babila Mbua, the training is an avenue to build up the capacity of young people in terms of skills development because skills development and self-development is the future of Africa.
He added that the training is the result of a partnership with Google and starup crime and they are to build the next generation of digital marketers in Cameroon and Africa.
Quizzed on why the training, Mbua said the training originated from the fact that, there are lots of young people starting up small business and also there are businesses that do not have access to the internet. With almost two billion people active on Facebook every day, he sees the platform as a huge resource for entrepreneurs.
“I think it is a great platform where you can get to market and sell yourself,“ Paul Babila told reporters.
He added that, in order for someone to sell and market his or her self not only nationally but internationally, they need to gain the right skills as professionals and to be trained in the various techniques on how to be professional digital marketers.
Mbua said the training focuses not only on Internet but also gives them skills on social media marketing like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, twitter among others. Quizzed on who is qualified for the training, he said they look at people who have small businesses but lack the push in order to get their products out to customers.
Quizzed on the opportunities of digital marketing Mbua said it is one of the well-paid jobs en vogue. He added that anyone having the skills has a lot of companies not only nationally but internationally to work with.
Babila Mbua however calls on the youths not to sit down saying there are no jobs. He said with the internet, one can sit and work for someone abroad because there is a great potential in digital marketing since even those selling clothes or shoes need the skills of digital marketers to better enhance what they are doing to provide them with opportunities throughout the world.
