Election for the pioneer City Mayor of Kumba is expected to take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2020 at the Kumba City Council Chambers.
The highly awaited election that will equally see the election of the first and second deputy City Mayors will be under the supervision of the Meme Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong to be monitored by CPDM Central Committee officials headed by Chief Justice Benjamin Itoe Mutanga and Sir Humphrey Monono Ekema as the ‘Charges des Missions’.
Going by speculations that the election of Ngoh Nkelle Victor, who until now is the Government Delegate of the Kumba City Council, to the top job was already a foregone conclusion, news is already making rounds in Kumba that, the Government Delegate will be confronted with a challenger for the ‘prestigious’ job.
The SUN gathered, that a ‘new comer’ going by some local party officials and militants of the CPDM, Gregory Ntemoyok Mewanu, has already in many gatherings declared that he will give the Government Delegate a good run for his money and become the pioneer City Mayor of Kumba.
Gregory Ntemoyok Mewanu is a Councillor of the Kumba I CPDM run council. Political pundits in Kumba continue to suggest that, though a businessman who has the legitimate right to aspire just like any other Councillor to grab the top job, the road won’t be an easy one for him.
On the other hand, there is Ngoh Nkele Victor who has been at the helm of the City Council since 2009 and has made his footprints on the ground so far as development is concerned.
While Ngoh Nkele Victor and his main challenger are busy burning midnight candles to canvass for votes from members of the Electoral College, others are already positioning themselves to be voted deputy Mayors.
The SUN gathered that former Mayor of Kumba III Council, Barristers Ebanja and Ndeme Takem Samuel are multiplying efforts to grab the position.
