Newly elected Mayors and their deputies in Kumba have begun work in all their respective municipalities.
This follows the official technical handover between the outgoing Mayors and the incoming Mayors conducted by the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Meme, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong, on Wednesday February 26, 2020.
In Kumba I, outgoing Mayor Ebako Abel Ndoh in a broad smile handed over to his “brother” Barrister Eseme Moses Esembe in a ceremony that was spiced with questions and answers on pertinent issues about the council’s properties. The new Mayor was taken aback when he was made to understand that of the four multipurpose Kumba I Council Business Centers, only one fully belongs to the Council and the rest are still under the “Build Operate and Transfer” BOT scheme. Another issue that didn’t go down well for the Mayor-elect was the huge financial debts of the Council he is supposed to handle in order for him to have a smooth running of the affairs of the council with his team.
Faced with all these, the SDO while cautioning the Mayor-elect to muster courage to better confront the challenges, drew the attention of the outgoing Mayor to hastily adjust the worrying issues raised by the Mayor elect.
In Kumba II, the outgoing Mayor, Ndobegang Forcha Martin handed over to Mayor-elect Mbachu Jacob Kay without hitches. The SDO however reminded the Mayor-elect that he has a herculean task ahead of him.
In Kumba III, Mayor-elect Dr Isaac Mukwelle Nguba comfortably took over from John Kona Makia. What shocked the Mayor was that the modern Council chambers constructed from FEICOM funds have never had electricity.
