Barrister Asoh Ebai re-elected President of FAKLA- aims to focus on professionalism

Barrister Asoh Ebai Epey has been re-elected President of the Fako Lawyers Association, FAKLA, He was re-elected on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at their association’s head office in Limbe.

Asoh Ebai says one of his main goals is to focus on professionalism of his members. He added that FAKLA will be organising symposiums to drill lawyers to meet up with the obligation that goes with the coming of the Limbe deep seaport.

According to President Asoh Ebai Epey, the contemporary lawyers need to focus on the Limbe deep seaport operations as it is within their jurisdiction of practice. He explained that FAKLA will continue to equip its members with the required skills for empowerment of their job.

Speaking after the tensed election, Barrister Asoh Ebai Epey said; “I feel humbled by my colleagues, members of FAKLA for the confidence bestowed on me and my team.”

Quizzed on his plan of action for 2023, he explained that his plan for him and that of his team for this mandate is to solidify unity amongst members, focus on training, professionalism, protecting the jobs of lawyers and fight corruption in the judiciary.

“I took over when the association was in disarray, lack of unity and direction. There was a lot of disrespect and division. No finances. No records”,

“The challenges during the mandate were how to build confidence of the members vis a vis the association and build the coffers of the association. The Bar Council elections was a big challenge to FAKLANS because we had divided interests”, Barrister AsohEbai said.

He added that members now have confidence in the association and it’s exco, our coffers is now healthy and there is more unity. It is however work in progress.
