Following the present socio-economic and political upheavals in the South west and North West regions of the country, South west elites were recently dispatched to Buea to pave the way for a smooth, open dialogue and equally to preach and propagate peace to the south west population.
The elites split into two different camps, one led by the former regional delegate for secondary education, Ngundu Francis and the other camp led by Senator Mbella Moki Charles.
The mission had to comprise of two sections, consultative talks and tours but it so happened that
On Tuesday October 17, 2017, Senator Charles was in the field preaching messages of peace and constructive dialogue in villages like Bonakanda, Bokova, Bova and Bitingui while Francis Ngundu’s team held consultative talks with various stakeholders.
The consultative talks held by the Ngundu-led delegation the press was barred from the discussions, but from what filtered out, the population was completely bitter over government’s handling of the Anglophone problem
From reports gotten from most of the communities in Buea, it could be gathered that, the indigenes of the South west region are still so very bitter and with the government.
Many of them who spoke to The SUN said that, without the release of the detained Anglophones, the demilitarization of the region, the mission of the elites to preach peace in Buea will yield no fruits.
Other individuals still believe that the solution lies with the Diaspora and third party organizations such as the United Nation to finally solve the Anglophone problem.
