 By Engah Peter Parkers

Last August 8, 2025, a significant transition took place in the governance of Limbe III Subdivision, as Dr. Ndofi Ngangeh Isidore was officially installed as the new Divisional Officer (DO) by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of Fako Division. At 38, Dr. Ngangeh brings a wealth of academic knowledge to the position, having recently earned his PhD in English Private Law from the University of Dschang earlier this year.

Dr. Ngangeh succeeds Epolewane Verklin, who served as DO for six years and made history as the only female Divisional Officer in Fako Division. She has been transferred to Nlonako Sub Division within the Moungo Division, where she will continue to serve in the same capacity.

Key responsibilities charged to Dr. Ngangeh

During the installation ceremony, the SDO outlined critical responsibilities that Dr. Ngangeh is expected to uphold in his new role, including protecting Cameroon’s maritime boundaries from illegal fishing and other unlawful activities that threaten both local ecosystems and livelihoods, regulate foreigners (ensure that foreign fishermen from Nigeria, Ghana, and Benin adhere to local laws while operating within the sub-division). This includes addressing serious issues such as reported cases of rape and other abuses against women, which have arisen in connection with foreign fishing activities.

Dr. Ngangeh is also expected to liaise with ELECAM to ensure that all registered voters receive their electoral cards and are prepared to vote peacefully. Furthermore, as schools prepare to reopen in September, Dr. Ngangeh is expected to oversee efforts to ensure that educational institutions in Limbe III Subdivision resume effectively and safely.

In his remarks during the ceremony, the SDO took a moment to commend outgoing DO, Epolewane Verklin for her resilience, intelligence, and astuteness throughout her tenure.

The ceremony featured heartfelt words from Mayor Nseke, who offered both a welcome to Dr. Ngangeh and a farewell to Epolewane. The event concluded with exchange of gifts, symbolising gratitude and goodwill between the outgoing and incoming officials
