The appreciation and inspection visit, held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, brought together school authorities, students, traditional leaders and local administrators to witness the symbolic handing over of rehabilitated classrooms. The intervention came barely days after strong winds on March 13 tore off roofs and disrupted academic activities, particularly affecting Upper Sixth Science students preparing for public examinations.

The ceremony was attended by the Second Class Chief of Mutengene, Aaron Ngeka, members of the school administration, parents and other invited guests, all of whom commended the rapid response that prevented prolonged interruption of lessons.

Speaking during the visit, Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo explained that the rehabilitation formed part of his social commitment as an elected representative to improve access to quality education and preserve learning conditions for young people in the constituency.

He noted that although he and Senator Lionel Fonderson were in parliamentary session in Yaoundé when news of the storm reached them, immediate action was taken to assess the damage and begin repairs without delay.

According to the Member of Parliament, education and health remain key pillars of his development vision for Fako East, stressing that every effort must be made to ensure children study in safe and conducive environments.

He praised the principal, staff and students of the institution for cooperating throughout the rehabilitation works and said the joy expressed by students during the visit reflected the importance of timely leadership in moments of crisis.

Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo added that seeing students return to normal learning conditions was a major source of satisfaction, especially at a time when examination classes require stability and concentration.

Senator Lionel Fonderson, who joined the inspection visit, openly praised Honourable Findi Stanley for what he described as uncommon political responsiveness. He recounted how the parliamentarian immediately left Yaoundé to personally inspect the damaged site while discussions were still ongoing on how best to intervene.

Fonderson disclosed that by the time support arrangements were being considered, workers had already been deployed on site under the initiative of Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo. He described the Member of Parliament as an active grassroots leader whose interventions continue to impact schools and communities across the constituency.

The senator also recalled earlier work carried out by Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo at Government Primary School Mutengene Tiko Road, where classrooms and the head teacher’s office were renovated ahead of the current academic year.

Beyond infrastructure, Senator Fonderson encouraged students to remain focused on their studies and avoid drug abuse, which he warned is increasingly destroying the future of many young people. He urged students to become messengers of discipline and responsibility among their peers, stressing that educational success depends not only on school facilities but also on personal choices.

Responding to further requests made by the school administration, Senator Fonderson assured the principal that additional support would be explored through the appropriate channels. He also announced that before the next academic year begins, he and Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo would return to reward outstanding students of the school.

The announcement was welcomed with excitement by students, who repeatedly cheered both leaders during the ceremony.

As candidates prepare for public examinations, Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo and Senator Fonderson expressed confidence in the ability of students to record excellent results, wishing them success and encouraging them to aim for a 100 percent pass rate.

For many observers, the intervention once again highlights Honourable Findi Stanley Mokondo’s growing profile as a lawmaker whose constituency actions increasingly focus on urgent social needs, particularly within the education sector.
