The journey began with the launch of the Divisional Campaign for Clean City last March 19, 2025 after which

Kumba I Municipality secured the first position in Meme Division, catapulting the municipality into the highly

competitive Regional Competition.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the Regional Delegation of Housing and Urban Development in Buea hosted the

regional competition bringing together the winners from all other divisions within the region.

Kumba I Council proudly represented Meme Division, standing alongside other councils: Buea Council for

Fako, Bangem Council for Kupe Muanenguba, Isangele Council for Ndian, and Menji Council for Lebialem.

Unfortunately, Manyu Division was not represented.

During the competition, participants showcased their hard work through impressive presentations,

accompanied by videos and pictures highlighting the positive effects of their intervention in hygiene and

sanitation, tree planting, waste management amongst others. The jury visited each municipality, and Kumba I

Municipality emerged victorious at the end.

As champions of the South West Region, the municipality will now represent the region at the upcoming

National Competition.
