The project would cost billions of francs CFA and would comprise a gas plant, residential area and a restaurant. Its importance would not only be felt economically but socially as it would be a tourist attraction site.

“Though a regional project, I am happy Kumba was chosen for the plant. Upon completion, the plant will solve not only the problem of gas scarcity, but would improve on the livelihood of Kumba denizens and beyond. The cost of cooking gas will drop from 8000-12.000FCFA to about 6500FCFA; a fixed price subsidised by the Head of State, President Paul Biya”, Johnson Okie revealed.

Going further, he divulged the drop in prices will provide a much needed relief to homes which could not afford cooking gas. More so, the non usage of firewood will conserve our forests and prevent diseases caused by the emission of burnt firewood.

Ecstatic about the leveling of the site and the willingness of Kumba denizens to forfeit land for the project, the GM revealed CSPH is committed in carrying out its corporate social responsibility: “This project goes beyond the construction of the gas plant. Accompanying projects like the opening of the road and possible tarring of it and the electrification of the community are in view. With the structures we are putting up, this will become a tourist site, thereby bringing more income into the community. Indeed, the CSPH is committed to improving communities via corporate social responsibility”.
